A Guide to Cosmetic Dentistry

Having a beautiful smile is so important these days, and so more and more people are looking to cosmetic dentistry to give them that Hollywood smile. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the look of the teeth, rather than the health of the mouth per say, however as all round dentists, we are able to treat both, so you end up with both beautiful and healthy teeth!

There are a number of things that us cosmetic dentists have in our toolbox to give you that winning smile, depending on your particular needs. Very often we use a few things in combination for the best results, here are the main things we do:

Straightening teeth

Using orthodontic procedures, we can straighten crooked teeth, eliminate gapping and correct overbites and underbites, so teeth look great and also problems with eating or getting food stuck in teeth are solved. This is most commonly done on children, but the trend for adult braces is growing too. If you’ve always wanted straight teeth but didn’t get it done as a child the great news is you don’t have to suffer the “metal mouth” look any more. There are white fixed braces which look good and even invisible solutions such as Invisalign.

Teeth whitening

This is the most straightforward procedure which can have very rapid and powerful results. A word of caution for this is to not try and go too white – those Hollywood A-listers may be able to carry it off, but seeing a super white smile in Marbella looks a bit fake, so we will work with you to find a shade which makes teeth sparkle without looking shocking.

Where the appearance of teeth is poor and you have gapping, or misshapen teeth, or discolouration which doesn’t respond to whitening, veneers are a great option, for quickly and easily improving your smile. These are super thin laminates which are stuck onto your teeth and custom made for a perfect fit.

Replacing Missing Teeth

This is strictly speaking restorative dentistry, but it is often an important part of a largely cosmetic treatment plan, as no one wants big gaps where teeth have fallen out. There are a number of ways we can replace teeth, the most popular being implants, but also including bridges and dentures and just replacing these missing teeth can make a huge difference to the way the mouth looks. It is common to undertake cosmetic work at the same time as using implants for example, to improve the appearance of the whole mouth and match the teeth to the new implant.

At our Marbella dentist, our experienced and highly qualified team can undertake all these cosmetic procedures, as well as ensure that your mouth is healthy through good cleaning and regular check-ups. Please arrange a consultation with us to tell us the results you want and we can work with you to create a treatment plan which will leave you with a stunning smile.
