If you’re visiting Marbella in Easter, fit in a trip to the dentist

Easter is a great time of year to visit Marbella. This is the time when the high season officially begins, everything reopens, the beaches are ready for the summer and the atmosphere is excellent as tourism returns again in earnest.

This is also an important religious holiday, and is marked by a whole week of daily processions through Marbella. You don’t have to be catholic to go along and take a look, it’s a fascinating insight into the Spanish culture and is very dramatic. The processions all start from different churches and chapels around the pretty old town and centre around floats with statues depicting different events from the Easter story. These floats are enormous, ornate and take 12 or more men to carry them through the streets, navigating the small squares and balconies on their way through. They then head down to the main street, Ricardo Soriano, along this high street before going back into the old town again. If you’re not sure where they are just follow your nose – they are always accompanied by a lot of incense!

Easter is also the time of year when the events calendar starts to fill up again and there’s lots going on. Highlights include the Full Moon Gala Dinner at El Oceano on the 11th of April Live music at La Sala and the season opening of legendary beach club Nikki Beach on the 13th of April.

Families will enjoy the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed Easter event at LouLou Jane Marbella on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th and the Mother and baby coffee morning at Mundo Mania play centre on April 12th.  There will be much more going on too, pop into your nearest tourist office when you arrive to find out the programme.

While you’re here, why not take a few hours out to pop to the dentist? It might not seem the right thing to do while you’re on holiday, but it might save you a lot of money! On holiday you have more time to look after yourself and while going to the dentist is not the same as chilling out at the spa, it is an important health check and something which you know is important to stay pain free and healthy.  MarDenta’s English speaking dentists have over seven years of NHS experience and have worked in private practices in the UK.
